On average I advise clients that the
process will take an average of 3 months at 10 hours per week.
Follow-up consultation to assist with implementation of the plan
often takes an additional 3 to 9 months depending upon the needs

contract do you recommend for assisting organizations in
transition? |

We recommend a minimum contract of
six months. For many organizations a one year contract is needed
to develop the plans and to implement the key components of the
plan. |

Only in rare cases when time allows
and available staff has familiarity with the subject area and funding
agency. Most grant writing contracts are for a set number
of hours (e.g. 8 hours a week) for a period of six months or more. |

for a initial consultation? |

Thre is no charge for an initial
phone interview and review of selected information.
Subsequent meetings are billed at the minimum rate of $50 per hour
until a contract is negotiated. |

Will Colby
Consulting accept contracts on a contingency or commission basis? |

No. Such contracts distort the motive
of both parties and are usually indications of an organization is
severe financial distress. The National Society of Fund Raising
Executives strongly advises against such contracts. |

notice does Colby Consulting require to schedule and run a Board
Retreat? |
|
Two months is the minimum preferred
in order to properly plan for and conduct the retreat. More time
is preferred where possible. |
